Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia 11/03/18

10 March 2018

Borussia Monchengladbach have hopes of closing the gap on top-five teams in the Bundesliga, as they are six points behind their next rivals, Bayer Leverkusen, whom they are set to face at the BayArena this weekend. The Company XI have lost two times in a row at home to Schalke and Hertha, without scoring a goal, and they intend to end the negative streak against the team that lost four out of the previous five road games, with a -4 goal difference. Bayer are currently occupying fifth place with only two points deficit to Schalke, who are second, and they have every reason to look for the Champions League qualification spot. However, Heiko Herrlich has to motivate his players to raise their game again and maintain consistency if they want to avoid playing the Europa League next season. On the other hand, the Foals have improved their football after a slow start of the campaign, but they are still struggling in the final third, as they’ve failed to hit the net four times in the last six matches.

Sven Bender has back pain, while Tim Jedvaj suffered a muscle strain, which is why both are going to skip the game. The visitors are experiencing immense problems with injuries as Tobias Strobl, Ibrahima Traore, Fabian Johnson, Raffael, Julio Villalba, Laszlo Benes, Oscar Wendt, Reece Oxford, and Mamadou Doucoure all having various problems and could miss the trip to Leverkusen.
