Bangkok United vs Nakhon Ratchasima

A place in the Thai FA Cup semi-finals is on the line as Bangkok United and Nakhon Ratchasima face each other at the Thammasat Stadium.

Bangkok United launched their Thai FA Cup journey with a pair of multi-goal margin wins ‘to one’ over sub-par rivals Chiangmai and Chainat Hornbill before ousting a semi-professional outfit Phitsanulok with a 2-1 extra-time win in the last round. An uneventful display against non-league opposition had cast doubt on Bangkok’s bid to win the prize for the first time in the club’s history. Yet they did well to recover, stitching together back-to-back top-flight triumphs over Sukhothai and Ratchaburi without a reply in the follow-up. Unfortunately for interim boss Totchtawan Sripan, his men have folded in consecutive domestic fixtures against Buriram United and Port by an aggregate score of 5-1, conceding the opening goal with 30 minutes of play on both occasions.

On the other hand, visiting Nakhon Ratchasima have gone from strength to strength in their opening two Thai FA Cup outings, steamrolling past Surin Sugar 4-0 in a curtain-raising game before dismantling Suphanburi 5-1 in the last round. However, the visitors’ wheels have since fallen off, with Teerasak Po-on’s side now taking the field winless in three straight league matches (D2, L1), conceding the opener in both scoring contests in that patch. The ‘Swat Cats’ may feel unjust for seeing the odds stacked against them here, knowing they’ve only lost once on their last four competitive visits to Bangkok (W1, D2). It’s also worth noting that they had netted multiple goals in three consecutive away H2Hs before falling to a 3-0 defeat on their most recent visit to the Thammasat Stadium.
