Augsburg vs Koln 08/06/20

08 June 2020

Out-of-form Koln head to the WWK Arena to take on Augsburg, hoping to bring a disappointing ten-game winless streak in the Bundesliga (BL) H2Hs to a halt (D5, L5).

The hosts have struggled to impress after the coronavirus crisis, posting just a single win in four BL matches (D1, L2). Interestingly, two of Augsburg’s three results (win/loss) during that four-game sequence have seen the winner on the day win both halves ‘to nil.’ The ‘Fuggerstädter’ have also failed to live up to expectations at home since the turn of 2020, winning just once in six top-flight home outings since the calendar flipped (D2, L3). Still, the WWK Arena has been a venue of entertainment this year, with four of Augsburg’s six BL matches here seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet.

On the other hand, the visitors are winless in five consecutive league matches (D2, L3) and are still looking for their first BL triumph in the post-pandemic period. Regardless, ‘Die Geißböcke’ have been an exciting team to watch in 2020. Indeed, all 12 of their league games since the turn of the year have produced over 2.5 goals, with nine seeing both teams score, including the last six. Also, none of Koln’s ten previous BL away fixtures has ended in a draw (W3, L7), with seven of those results witnessing at least three goals and both sides on the scoresheet.
