Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla 13/05/19

13 May 2019

Atletico Madrid come face-to-face with Sevilla for the top-of-the-table La Liga clash at the Wanda Metropolitano, with the hosts obliged to get something here to keep their hopes of securing the Champions League promotion alive.

The hosts’ four-game LL winning run was brought to a halt as Espanyol clinched a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Los Colchoneros last time out. Still, Los Rojiblancos can proudly boast the best LL home record (W15, D2, L1), with 13 of those wins saw Atletico beating their rivals to nil. What’s more, the Madrid giants have racked up a seven-game winning home streak across all competitions, with four of those triumphs ending with the same 2-0 scoreline. Also, no team has shipped fewer home goals than Atletico Madrid (9) this term, with Diego Simeone’s men allowing over 1.5 match goals three times in 18 LL home outings.

Meanwhile, with two LL fixtures left to go, the visitors sit three points adrift of fourth-placed Getafe having suffered three defeats in their last four LL games (W1, L3). Frustratingly for them, Los Hispalenses have struggled to find the net in all three of those failures, with two of them ending with the same 3-0 scoreline against their favor. Moreover, Los Nervionenses have endured mixed fortunes over their past four LL away games (W2, L2), with three of those clashes featuring under 2.5 goals. A worrying fact for the traveling side is that Sevilla’s last LL away win over Atletico in H2Hs dates back to 2008, with the Madrid outfit clinching five wins in the previous nine H2H meetings with Sevilla at this venue (W5, D4).
