Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad 28/10/18

28 October 2018

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are set for a face-to-face meeting at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, as the hosts hope to extend a 5-game winning streak over the Basque side.

Although Los Colchoneros started La Liga season off on the wrong foot, they’ve notably raised their game in the following period, having clinched three triumphs in the previous five league matches. Los Rojiblancos have the second-best home record in Spanish top flight, behind Espanyol, having won three out of four games in Madrid, playing out one draw in the process. With just five goals conceded so far, Diego Simeone’s team have the best defensive record in the league, and they are also one of three sides to keep a clean sheet five times.

On the other hand, the Whites and Blues currently sit in the 9th place, with a record of three wins, three draws, and three losses. Real Sociedad’s biggest problem this season relates to their defensive performance, as they’ve only kept a clean sheet twice, just once in five road matches. However, the Royal have scored a brace three times away from the Anoeta Stadium, which is the second-best record in Spain, with only Sevilla managing to surpass it so far. However, the last time the San Sebastian-based outfit scored twice against Atletico on the road was in 2003, while they’ve failed to notch a goal in Madrid four times in the past five encounters.
