Atletico Madrid vs Eibar 02/09/19

2 September 2019

Atletico Madrid take on Eibar at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in a clash that sees the visitors trying to post their elusive first La Liga (LL) win over the Madrid giants (D2, L8).

Although the hosts enjoyed a 100% start to the 2019/20 LL season, both of their wins over Getafe and Leganes finished with the identical 1-0 scoreline. The Wanda Metropolitano has been a fortress over the past 12 months, with Atletico picking up 16 wins in their last 20 LL games here (W16, D3, L1). What’s more, 14 of those triumphs have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with nine of them seeing Los Colchoneros score 2+ match goals. Also, half of Atletico’s last eight LL home wins have ended with the same 2-0 scoreline (4), with Los Rojiblancos breaking the deadlock inside the first 45 minutes five times along the way.

Winless in the opening two LL outings (D1, L1), the visitors arrive here off the back of a goalless away draw with Osasuna, in which they’ve struggled to produce a single shot on target. Eibar’s main issue when away from home lately has been a lack of goals. They drew a blank in three of their last five LL trips, scoring precisely one goal per match in the remaining two (W1, D1, L3). Furthermore, just 29.78% of Eibar’s total LL points last season came away from home, with nine of their total 13 LL defeats arriving on the road. Los Armeros have, also, failed to walk away from Madrid with three points in all five of their top-flight visits here (D2, L3).
