Atalanta vs Juventus 26/12/18

26 December 2018

After a 1-0 home win over AS Roma in weekend’s Serie A derby, Juventus will take on Atalanta at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia looking to extend an outstanding 28-game unbeaten run against the Bergamo-based outfit.

It will be a daunting task for Atalanta to pick up a victory against Juventus as their last win over the Turin giants dates back to 2002, while the last time the Goddess outplayed the Bianconeri in Serie A was in 2001.

The hosts come into this meeting following a 3-1 road loss to Genoa, which was their third league failure in their last five outings. Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia has not been the fortress Atalanta fans would have hoped for this season as the Goddess lost three out of their eight home matches this term while securing four triumphs in the process. Speaking of Atalanta’s home displays, their main strength relates to a stubborn defensive performance that has seen them concede just five goals, keeping a clean sheet four times so far. However, Duvan Zapata and co. have struggled to hit the back of the net three times in eight home clashes this campaign, which is the second-weakest record in the Italian top flight.

On the other hand, the reigning holders have racked up an eight-game winning Serie A run as they comfortably top the table with an eight-point lead over second-placed Napoli. Furthermore, the Bianconeri boast a perfect road record (W8), with five of their last six road wins saw them beating their rivals without conceding a goal. Additionally, Massimiliano Allegri’s men have notably improved their defensive displays in the past six weeks that have seen Wojciech Szczesny keeping a clean sheet in his last six league outings. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo and his fellow teammates have scored at least two goals per match in seven consecutive road matches away from home before beating Torino 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
