Atalanta vs Inter Milan

Serie A pacesetters Inter Milan take a daunting-looking trip to the Gewiss Stadium to encounter in-form Atalanta in a top-four six-pointer.

As one of only three sides to have kept seven clean sheets in the first ten rounds for just the second time in Serie A history, Atalanta head into proceedings in a buoyant mood, bidding to reduce a six-point gap on Inter after back-to-back wins over Genoa and Empoli by 2+ goals ‘to nil.’ Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have been nothing short of impressive in Bergamo this season, winning all but a goalless draw against Juventus without conceding (W4). Their defensive solidity hasn’t affected their scoring prowess, with ‘La Dea’ netting 2+ goals in each triumph, positioning themselves nicely to end a four-match winless H2H home run against Inter (D2, L2). But since they failed to score twice in that sequence, Atalanta cannot rest easy.

In the meantime, Inter Milan pushed Jose Mourinho’s ‘bus’ off the road as Marcus Thuram’s late winner inspired them to a narrow 1-0 home win over Roma last weekend, moving them two points clear of second-placed Juventus. Simone Inzaghi’s men have responded well to a frustrating 2-2 home draw against Bologna before October’s international break, winning all three competitive outings since by a combined score of 6-1. Additionally, ‘I Nerazzurri’ have won all four away league matches this season ‘to nil’ and could make it five in a row without conceding at the start of a new top-flight campaign for the first time since 1966/67. Bringing the tail-end of the 2022/23 campaign into the equation, the visitors have won their last five away league games, last winning more in succession in November 2019.
