Gearing up for the new season, AS Roma and Real Madrid go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico for their final pre-season clash ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Roma’s unapologetic approach under Paulo Fonseca promises a lot of fireworks here. All five of their pre-season games under the new boss so far have produced over 3.5 goals with four of them seeing both teams score (W4, D1). Interestingly, all of those matches have featured goals in both halves, with Roma losing at the halftime break on three occasions. Much more aggressive in the second half, they have netted 15 of a total 18 goals in that period in the second 45 minutes (83.33%). The Giallorossi’s success in the summer preparations has coincided with their run of good form from the final stage of last season (W5, D4).

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured tough ride at the beginning of their pre-season, picking up just one win in their opening four summer friendlies (W1, L3). Real’s defensive frailties have already seen them concede over 1.5 match goals four times this summer, keeping a clean sheet only once in six warm-up games so far. However, coming into this clash off the back of a narrow 1-0 win over RB Salzburg, Los Blancos look to put together three triumphs, as they’ve previously clinched a 5-3 victory over Fenerbahce in the 2019 Audi Cup. Zinedine Zidane has every right to hope for success here, as Los Merengues have secured five wins from as many previous H2Hs with the Serie A giants, four of which have been to nil.
