AS Roma vs Chievo Verona 16/09/18

16 September 2018

AS Roma are set to host Chievo Verona at the Stadio Olimpico, frantically attempting to get back on winning ways and return to the Champions League promotion race.

After having a pretty busy summer, it’s natural Eusebio Di Francesco has some troubles putting together a solid team by instantly integrating all newcomers, which is why the Giallorossi achieved just one victory in the first three rounds by defeating Torino on the road by a goal to nil. The matchday-two encounter with Atalanta in the Italian capital saw Roma pulling off a stunning second-half comeback, but only to remain undefeated. However, La Lupa got outplayed by AC Milan in the previous fixture at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, which is why they currently trail Juventus by five points.

On the other hand, the Flying Donkeys, who somehow managed to keep the top-flight status for another season, seem to be continuing to struggle even this year, as they have already lost two matches, to Juventus and Fiorentina, while their only point came against Empoli, with the encounter ending in a scoreless draw. Although Lorenzo D’Anna hopes his side can leave Rome with something in their pocket, their sloppy defensive performance would hardly come in handy against the likes of El Shaarawy, Dzeko, and Cengiz Under.

The second-choice goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, as well as, the Italian right-back Alessandro Florenzi should remain on the stands due to some physical problems. Meanwhile, Bostjan Cesar, Fabrizio Cacciatore, and Perparim Hetemaj won’t play for the visitors due to injuries.
