Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur 02/12/18

02 December 2018

Sunday’s afternoon kick-off at the Emirates Stadium sees Arsenal go in search of their first home win in the Premier League following back-to-back draws with Liverpool and Wolverhampton.

Arsenal will enter the encounter full of confidence after clinching two straight wins, including the one over Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League in midweek. A 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend has brought Gunners’ three-game winless streak to an end. Although Unai Emery’s men are yet to taste a defeat after the opening two Premier League fixtures, the three consecutive draws to Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Wolverhampton have sent them away from the Champions League promotion zone. Their defensive problems have seen Arsenal concede a minimum of one goal 11 times in their 13 Premier League matches, which puts them on a par with Cardiff and Man Utd. However, Aubameyang and his fellow teammates have scored at least one goal in twelve successive league games, which is the best goalscoring run in the Premier League.

After a narrow 1-0 loss to the Citizens, Mauricio Pochettino’s players have racked up a promising 6-game winning streak across all competitions, as they lastly outplayed Inter Milan in midweek’s Champions League clash. Tottenham’s impressive road form could be a major influence in this encounter. The visitors have collected more points away from home than any other team in the English top flight, having secured seven wins in eight road encounters. The Spurs were the one to take the lead in all of their eight road meetings, which is an absolute record in the Premier League. Moreover, they have kept a clean sheet four times on the road so far, with only Manchester City managing to surpass that record up to this point.
