Arsenal vs Norwich City 02/07/20

2 July 2020

Arsenal welcome basement boys Norwich City to the Emirates Stadium, looking to post a fourth straight Premier Leauge victory on home turf.

On the other hand, the visitors’ hopes of avoiding relegation have drastically diminished after they’ve suffered three consecutive defeats, all of which saw them draw a blank. Indeed, rock-bottom Norwich trail 17th-placed West Ham by six points and are on a run of eight Premier League away games without a win (D2, L6). In fact, the Canaries have won just once in 15 league road trips this campaign (D3, L11), failing to find the back of the net in ten (the division’s worst record). Additionally, Norwich remain the only side in England’s top-tier yet to reach double digits away from home (six goals scored), with just one of them arriving before the break.

A 2-0 away win over Southampton last time out now means that none of Arsenal’s previous six Premier League matches ended in a draw (W4, L2), with four of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. However, the Gunners are unbeaten in five league home games (W4, D1), which has been the case in their last seven top-flight H2Hs held here (W5, D2). If Mikel Arteta’s men concede the opening goal here, as they did in six of 15 Premier League home fixtures this term, it may not be the last – Arsenal lost just two applicable matches (W2, D2). Notably, Arsenal’s home action usually starts quickly, as all of their 15 league home games this season have featured at least one goal inside the first 45 minutes of play.
