Arsenal vs Everton 23/09/18

23 September 2018

After a routine 4-1 win over Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League opener, Arsenal will be looking to take on Everton at the Emirates Stadium, hoping to extend a 3-game winning streak in the English Premier League.

The Gunners have opened the season on the wrong foot by getting outclassed by Manchester City at home by two goals to nil, after which they’ve returned from Stamford Bridge empty-handed, as Chelsea beat them 3-2. However, Unai Emery’s team have gear up their game after a bad start, achieving three straight triumphs, over West Ham, Cardiff City, and Newcastle United, scoring eight goals in the process.

Meanwhile, the Toffies seem to be out of balance since the opening match of the season, where they played out a 2-2 draw with Wolves after dropping a lead two times. Although the Liverpool-based side defeated Southampton 2-1 at home, the lack of continuity has cost them seven points in the last three fixtures. Bournemouth and Huddersfield are the teams that endured against Marco Silva’s players, eventually securing a point apiece, while West Ham stormed through the Goodison Park last weekend, wrapping up a comfortable 3-1 win.

Emery won’t be able to count on Sead Kolasinac, Laurent Koscielny, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, while Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Michael Keane, and James McCarthy are all expected to remain on the stands for the visitors due to various injury problems.
