Arsenal vs Everton 24/02/20

24 February 2020

Arsenal and Everton go head-to-head in the Premier League (PL) mid-table showdown, with just two points separating the sides ahead of the kick-off.

A 4-0 thumping of Newcastle last weekend has brought Arsenal’s four-game winless PL streak to a halt (D4), seeing them cut down the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea to five points. Mike Arteta’s men have overseen an upturn in results recently, going from three consecutive PL home defeats to three straight games without a loss here (W2, D1). If the hosts win here, they may as well score two goals or more, considering four of their five league home victories witnessed them get on the scoresheet at least twice. In turn, the Gunners have racked up five consecutive top-flight home wins over Everton, netting over 1.5 goals in each. Also, the joint-fastest PL home starters, Arsenal have found the net inside the opening 15 minutes of play in five of 13 league games at the Emirates so far this season.

Meanwhile, the visitors have improved their form lately and are heading to London on a five-game unbeaten PL run (W3, D2). All three of their previous league fixtures have witnessed over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet, featuring at least one goal beyond the 80th minute. The Toffees like to keep it tight, as nine of their last ten PL matches ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W5, D4, L1), with the winner in three of their successes in that period continually arriving beyond the hour mark. In turn, eight of Everton’s past nine PL away games have yielded a single-goal margin (if any), with seven seeing over 2.5 goals and both sides hit the net.
