Arsenal vs Bodo/Glimt
Emirates Stadium is the venue as high-flying Arsenal and in-form Bodo/Glimt meet in a top-table Europa League Group A six-pointer.
After the postponement of their matchday-two fixture against PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal return to Europa League action as Group A runners-up. Mikel Arteta’s side scored on either side of halftime in a 2-1 away win over Zurich on day one and know another win here would fire them past section-leaders Bodo/Glimt. If Arsenal’s eye-catching European record against Norwegian opponents (W5, D1) is anything to go by, the North London crowd could be in for another spectacle following the Londoners’ 3-1 home win over fierce city Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. A high-scoring theme could highlight this clash as the ‘Gunners’ have netted an impressive average of 4.33 goals per game across three home encounters against Norwegian visitors (W3).
In the meantime, Bodo/Glimt’s Group A journey started with a 1-1 draw at PSV before the back-to-back Norwegian champions overcame Zurich 2-1 at home on matchday two to seize control of the group summit. No strangers to pulling off massive continental upsets, the ‘Lightning’ demolished last season’s Europa Conference League winners Roma 6-1 in the 2021/22 group stages. Though this will be Bodo’s first-ever European meeting with English opposition, they boast fond memories from their previous matches against British clubs, having ousted Celtic and Linfield from major European competitions over the past two years. However, playing on foreign soil has not been Bodo’s strong suit lately, as they’ve won just once on their last 13 European road trips (D7, L5).
