Armina Bielefeld vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Out-of-sorts Eintracht Frankfurt will be looking to post their first Bundesliga win of the season when they take on Arminia Bielefeld at Schüco Arena this weekend.

Warm relegation candidates Arminia Bielefeld have opened the new Bundesliga season with back-to-back draws – both of which featured under 2.5 total goals – extending their unbeaten league streak to five games. Despite coming only three games short of their longest undefeated run in the top-flight this century (8), the last two Bundesliga campaigns they started with consecutive draws saw them suffer relegation. Bielefeld’s hopes of avoiding a similar scenario will hinge on their ability to improve in the final third, having netted the second-low 26 top-flight goals in 2020/21. Regardless of their scoring potential, their recent H2H record versus Eintracht offers virtually no hope to the home faithful, with ‘Die Arminen’ going winless in their last eight competitive H2Hs (D4, L4) since 3-0 away Bundesliga win in November 2006.

On the other hand, Oliver Glasner’s adventure at Eintracht Frankfurt has started with a whimper rather than a bang, with his side going winless in their opening two Bundesliga fixtures (D1, L1). A disappointing 0-0 home draw with Augsburg last time out marked their first goalless stalemate in the Bundesliga since April 2019! Another defeat here would see ‘Die Adler’ make their worst start to a new top-flight season since 2003/04 when they ominously ended up relegated. Adding to an already long list of issues, the visitors have conceded 3+ goals in each of their last four Bundesliga road trips (L4), losing three of them by a margin of at least two goals. Andre Silva’s summer departure for RB Leipzig has left a sizeable gap in the attacking department, as witnessed by Frankfurt’s return of a single goal from 32 attempts so far this term.
