Angers vs Arsenal 01/08/19

1 August 2019

Angers and Arsenal will face-off at Stade Raymond Kopa for a friendly meeting that will see the Premier League side trying to bounce back after a period of minor crisis.

Angers’ pre-season is well underway, with the French side winning three of their opening summer friendlies while failing to pull off a win in the last two (D1, L1). Four of those games have produced over 2.5 goals and seen both teams score, with Les Scoïstes netting 2+ match goals three times in the process. Stéphane Moulin’s main worry ahead of this clash could be Angers’ inability to keep a clean sheet that has seen them concede at least one goal in nine of their last 11 outings. Still, they have been regular on the scoresheet across the same period, finding the net on ten occasions, bagging over 1.5 match goals three though.

On the other hand, the Gunners go into this meeting off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Olympique Lyonnais in the Emirates Cup last weekend, which was their second consecutive failure following a loss to Real Madrid after a penalty shootout in the International Champions Cup. But, the North Londoners have clinched three wins in four summer friendlies prior (W3, D1), netting 2+ match goals in all four while keeping a clean sheet twice. As a result, all six of Arsenal’s matches this summer have produced over 2.5 goals while four of them witnessed goals at both ends.
