AEK Athens vs Bayern Munich 24/10/18
24 October 2018
AEK Athens will host Bayern Munich at the Olympic Stadium of Athens, seeking their first points in Europe this season.
The Yellow-Blacks have opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-0 loss to Ajax in Amsterdam although they’ve had a scoreless stalemate at the halftime. The Double-Headed Eagle also failed to endure against Benfica, losing 3-2 to the Portuguese giants after managing to return from two goals down in the second half. However, Marinos Ouzounidis’ players will enter the encounter full of confidence following two straight domestic victories over Lamia and Smyrnis.
On the other hand, the international break has come in handy to the Bavarians, who outplayed Wolfsburg on the road, having ended a 4-game winless streak. Before the players departed for their international duties, the Bundesliga holders have suffered two consecutive league defeats to Hertha and Borussia Monchengladbach, while being held to a 1-1 home draw to Benfica in the Champions League. Nonetheless, the Reds are looking to maintain the same performance as last weekend and get back to winning ways.
According to the latest reports, Ouzounidis will have all of his players fit and ready for midweek’s showdown, while Niko Kovac won’t be able to count on Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman.
