AC Milan vs Napoli 27/01/19
27 January 2019
Desperate to bring a disastrous 8-game winless run against Napoli to an end (D2, L6), an improving AC Milan side will do everything to beat Carlo Ancelotti’s crew at the Estadio Giuseppe Meazza this weekend.
After four consecutive Serie A games without a victory, the 7-time Champions League winners have secured two straight triumphs, scoring over 1.5 goals per match in both successes. However, none of AC Milan’s recent meetings across the competitions has provided entertainment to the neutral. Seven of their previous nine competitive outings have produced under 1.5 goals, with Gennaro Gattuso’s players failing to hit the net in six. Still, all of the Rossoneri’s six Serie A home wins have seen them score over 1.5 goals. Meanwhile, Gattuso seems unable to fix his team’s defensive difficulties that have seen Milan conceding at least one goal in nine of their ten Serie A home clashes.
On the other hand, the Partenopei come into this meeting after a 2-1 home win over Lazio. The visitors have racked up a three-game winning run in all competitions, scoring seven while conceding three goals in the process. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are going through a good spell, having won eight of their last ten competitive games although suffering two defeats during the run. The Blues have failed to put the ball into the net twice in their last three competitive road encounters, scoring just one goal in that period. What’s more, Napoli have struggled to keep a clean sheet seven times on the previous nine road trips in all competitions, allowing over 1.5 goals per match only twice though.
