AC Milan vs Internazionale 22/09/19

22 September 2019

Saturday’s Serie A (SA) concludes with the 224th ‘official’ edition of Derby della Madonnina where AC Milan take on arch-rivals Internazionale at the Stadio San Siro. This clash promises a lot of action, at least judging on their last six SA H2Hs. Aside from the two straight matches that have featured under 2.5 goals, all of the remaining four in that sequence have seen both teams score at least twice per match.

After a narrow 1-0 away loss to Udinese in the SA curtain-raiser, the hosts have secured back-to-back league wins by the identical scoreline and are currently trailing city rivals by three points. The Rossoneri’s main issue ahead of this clash has everything to do with their first-half performances. Even though one of two goals they’ve scored this term came before the halftime whistle, Marco Giampaolo’s men have produced just three shots on target in the three first halves of SA football played so far. Another huge problem for Milan is that they’ve failed to beat Inter in the last six SA H2Hs (D3, L3), with each of those three defeats seen them go down by a minimal one-goal margin.

Meanwhile, the visitors got off to a flying start, making it three wins from three SA outings this term, with two of those triumphs being accompanied by a clean sheet. Unlike AC Milan, the Nerazzurri have found little problems in the final third, having already netted seven goals this league campaign, four of which have come in the first half. Also, Antonio Conte’s players have won four of their last six SA trips (W4, D1, L1), netting 2+ match goals in each of those successes. It seems that everything goes right for Inter, except for the fact they’ve managed just one victory in the last six SA H2Hs when placed as visitors (W1, D3, L2).
