Pohang Steelers vs Daegu 05/09/20
05 September 2020
Pohang Steelers will be looking to put an end to a five-game winless K League 1 run against Daegu (D3, L2) when the two clubs lock horns at Pohang Steel Yard this weekend.
A 2-1 home success against Seongnam last time out gave Pohang a first league win after five matches (D2, L3). It also means that three of their previous five K League 1 outings have yielded the identical 2-1 scoreline, with the two of them seeing the winner on the day come from behind to seal three points. Notably, the ‘Steelers’ have gone from three straight home league defeats to five successive games without a loss (W2, D3), with six of those fixtures featuring both teams score. But, a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal could trouble Pohang here, as the hosts have scored under 1.5 goals in six of their previous eight top-flight home clashes.
On the other hand, the visitors are winless in four league matches (D1, L3), having drawn a blank on three of those occasions. Yet, they go into this encounter on the back of a ‘goal-friendly’ 6-4 home loss to Gwangju. That ten-goal festival has eclipsed Daegu’s tally of the nine goals scored/conceded in six top-flight games prior (GF:4, GA: 5). Indeed, low scoring has been a theme for Lee Byung-keun’s side away from home lately. All three of their previous league trips have featured under 2.5 goals, with Daegu failing to get on the scoresheet twice in the process.
