The two sides that have failed to pick up a win in their last two Premier League games, respectively, will meet at Molineux Stadium this weekend as Wolverhampton Wanderers (L2) take on Everton (D1, L1).
Wolves have suffered a dip in form recently, going from three consecutive Premier Leauge wins to back-to-back defeats, with all of those results (win//loss) featuring under 2.5 goals and seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. Interestingly, seven of the Wanderers’ six goals scored/conceded since the resumption of football in June came on or beyond the hour mark. Indeed, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are far more dangerous after the break, especially on home turf. The majority (72.73%) of Wolves’ 22 Premier League home goals scored this season have arrived in the second half of play. But, it may be a daunting prospect for Wolverhampton to score here, given that they’ve drawn a blank in three of their last four top-flight H2hs held at this stadium (D3, L1).
As for the visitors, four of their five Premier League games since the league’s restart have featured under 2.5 goals (W2, D2, L1), with three seeing the teams head into the halftime break on level terms (HT: W1, D3, L1). Additionally, Everton’s poor first-half performances have seen them fail to take the lead into the halftime in their last seven Premier League away games (HT: D5, L2). Although Everton enter the round seven points adrift of Wolves, they take some confidence from the fact they’ve lost just one of their last nine top-flight H2Hs (W3, D5). However, the Toffees have lost three of four of their previous Premier League trips (W1), with three of those results yielding a single-goal margin.
