Watford and Leicester City go head-to-head at Vicarage Road in what promises to be an exciting Premier League (PL) showdown. Indeed, none of their nine previous top-flight H2Hs has ended in a draw, with the traveling side securing six triumphs across those clashes (L3).
Although the Hornets have won only once in their last seven league outings (D2, L4) that victory came against table-toppers Liverpool (3-0 at home). Far more comfortable at home turf, Nigel Pearson’s players have managed 62.96% (17) of their 27 PL points at Vicarage Road, with 59.26% of their total league goals scored coming here, too (16/27). However, the hosts enter this round frantically looking over their shoulders, as they sit level on points with relegation-threatened Bournemouth. Curiously, even though they’ve conceded 27 goals at home (a fourth-worst record), Watford have kept seven clean sheets in 14 PL games at this venue so far (a joint-best record).
A 4-0 demolition of Aston Villa last time out has brought Leicester’s four-game winless PL run to a halt (D2, L2). Also, before beating Villa, the Foxes had drawn a blank in three consecutive league matches, with each of them featuring under 1.5 total goals. Away from home, Brendan Rodgers’ men have failed to pick up a win in three straight PL fixtures (D1, L2), with both of those two losses yielding a single-goal margin. In turn, Leicester have lost all three of their previous top-flight trips to Watford, with each coming via the identical 2-1 scoreline. But, only two teams have shipped fewer PL goals than Leicester (13) so far, even though they’ve failed to keep a blank sheet in just two of their last seven league road trips.
