TSG Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund will face off against each other at the PreZero Arena for a potentially high-scoring Bundesliga affair. Eight of their last nine league H2Hs have produced over 2.5 goals, with eight also seeing both teams score.
Hoffenheim have been a fun team to watch in the early stage of the season, as all of their opening three Bundesliga matches saw over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Indeed, before succumbing to a 2-1 away loss to Eintracht Frankfurt last time out, they had outscored Koln 3-2 and dismantled Bayern Munich 4-1, scoring the opener before the 20-minute mark in both successes. It’s been ‘all or nothing’ for the hosts on home turf this calendar year, as none of their nine home Bundesliga outings since the turn of 2020 has ended in a draw (W4, L5). Notably, the last six of those results (wins/losses) have yielded a full-time margin of over 1.5 goals.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund posted a commanding 4-0 home triumph over Freiburg last time out, which means each of their opening three Bundesliga fixtures saw the winner on the day keep a clean sheet and secure a multi-goal win. Yet, the visitors’ only failure was a 2-0 road loss to Augsburg on Matchday 2, which brought their six-game winning away Bundesliga streak to an end, last season included. Remarkably, each win during that six-match sequence witnessed ‘Die Borussen’ keep a clean sheet in the first half, with half of them yielding a 0-0 half-time score. Shutting out Hoffenheim will be virtually impossible, though, considering Lucien Favre’s men have conceded in all 12 top-flight trips to the PreZero Arena overall.
