Tokyo FC will be looking to stretch a winning run against Yokohama FC in all competitions when the two teams lock horns at the Ajinomoto Stadium this midweek.
A narrow 1-0 away win over Oita Trinita last time out now means none of Tokyo’s previous four J1 League fixtures has ended in a draw (W3, L1). In turn, none of the hosts’ six home league games, with four of those results (wins/losses) seeing the winner on the day keep a blank sheet. By extension, each of their four competitive H2H meetings held at this venue has seen the winning side shut out the loser (W2, L2). Interestingly, the majority of action (61.11%) in Tokyo’s top-flight home matches often take place before the half-time break, with 11 of the 18 goals scored/conceded on home turf coming in the first half of play.
On the other hand, the visitors have suffered a dip in form ahead of this trip, going from three consecutive league wins to two straight defeats. Four of those five fixtures have featured over 2.5 goals, with three seeing both teams score. None of Yokohama’s last five J1 League trips has produced a draw (W2, L3), with four of those results seeing the winner on the day get on the scoresheet at least three times. But, Takahiro Shimotaira would like to see his side improve their second-half defending, given eight of their 13 J1 League goals conceded on the road arrived in the second half of play (61.54%).
