Gamba Osaka head to the Shonan BMW Stadium Hiratsuka to face Shonan Bellmare, hoping to kick-start their YBC Levain Cup campaign.
The hosts have suffered four consecutive defeats going into this clash, with the last three yielding the identical 1-0 scoreline. Additionally, both of Shonan’s opening Group D fixtures produced the exact 1-0 score following a goalless first half (W1, L1). It is also worth noting that all four of Shonan’s previous home fixtures have featured under 1.5 goals (W1, D1, L2), with two of the three goals scored/conceded during those games coming beyond the hour mark. Bin Ukishima’s men can’t find any comfort looking into their recent H2H home record either, as they’ve lost four of their last five competitive home clashes against Gamba (W1). Each of those defeats saw Shonan concede at least one goal in both halves!
As for the visitors, they have just one point to their name after two Group D matches (D1, L1), both of which yielded a 0-0 second-half scoreline. Yet, away from home, Gamba are enjoying a six-game unbeaten run (W4, D2), having scored over 1.5 goals five times along the way. Curiously, five of their last seven competitive trips have featured goals in both halves and witnessed over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. However, Gamba’s defensive woes have seen them concede at least one goal in 16 of their previous 18 away clashes across various competitions and allow over 1.5 goals in ten.
