Ross County will be looking to maintain a 100% start to the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season when they take on Kilmarnock at the Global Energy Stadium this midweek.
The hosts have recorded two identical 1-0 triumphs at the beginning of the 2020/21 Premiership season, beating Motherwell at home and Hamilton on the road. It’s unlikely to be another straightforward ride for the ‘Staggies’ here, though, as they’ve won only once in their last four top-flight H2Hs (D1, L2). A notable lack of goals has highlighted Ross County’s league home fixtures this calendar year, as all five have produced under 2.5 goals, with three featuring under 1.5 goals. By extension, Stuart Kettlewell’s men have netted one goal or less in nine of their previous 11 top-flight home matches, last season included.
Meanwhile, the visitors have started the new league campaign with a whimper rather than a bang, failing to pick up a win in the opening two Premiership fixtures (D1, L1). Taking into the equation their results from the final stretch of the last season, Kilmarnock are now winless in six league matches (D2, L4). Five of those games saw both teams score, with four producing over 2.5 goals. Also, the ‘Killie’ have lost four of their last six top-flight trips to Ross County (W1, D1), conceding over 1.5 goals on four of those occasions. That’s not the kind of statistic Alex Dyer would want to dwell on ahead of this trip, especially as his side have lost all three of their previous away Premiership matches, last season included.
