Roma will be looking to kick-start their Serie A home campaign when they face newly-promoted Benevento at the Stadio Olimpico.
A genuine lack of firepower in the final third saw Roma draw a blank in two of their opening three Serie A fixtures, a 1-0 away win over Udinese last time out included. Indeed, the ‘Giallorossi’ lost 3-0 to Hellas Verona on Matchday 1 due to a clerical error and played out a 2-2 home draw with a 10-men Juventus side in the following round. By contrast, the hosts have won both of their only previous top-flight H2Hs via at least a three-goal margin, scoring over 3.5 goals in each success. Additionally, Paulo Fonseca’s men have suffered just one defeat in seven Serie A home outings post lockdown (W4, D2), scoring precisely two goals per game on six of those occasions.
Meanwhile, ‘Gli Stregoni’ head into this clash on the back of a 1-0 home win over Bologna, which marked their second triumph out of three Serie A matches this term (L1). Curiously, both of the visitors’ opening two league fixtures featured over 4.5 goals, with both sides scoring at least two in each. Bringing their away form from the final stage of the 2019/20 campaign into the equation, three of Benevento’s last competitive trips have seen over 4.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet (W3). Notably, two of those encounters also saw Filippo Inzaghi’s side score precisely three first-half goals.
