Real Valladolid and Getafe will face off against each other at the Estadio José Zorrilla this midweek in what might be a low-scoring La Liga (LL) contest. Indeed, seven of their last nine competitive H2Hs have produced under 2.5 goals, with five featuring a maximum of one.
For Valladolid, goals have been in short supply recently. They’ve drawn a blank in three of their last five league matches, with two of the three goals they’ve netted across those matches coming in the second half of play. A series of poor results came along, as Valladolid secured just one win during the abovementioned five-game sequence (D1, L3), tumbling down to 15th in the standings. Los Pucelanos have established themselves as ‘draw specialists’ this term, especially on home turf. Indeed, 57.14% (eight) of their 14 LL home fixtures this season have ended in a draw (W3, L3), with seven of those matches featuring a 0-0 halftime score.
The visitors are not having the best of times either, having sealed only one triumph from their last seven league fixtures (D3, L3). During that period, Jose Bordalas’ men have drawn a blank three times while scoring precisely once per match on the other four occasions. Curiously, though, none of Getafe’s last seven LL road trips has ended in a stalemate (W4, L3), with five of those results (win/loss) yielding a single-goal margin and three producing the identical 1-0 scoreline. The clean-sheet theme will be of the essence here, given that eight of Getafe’s 11 LL away results (W6, L5) this campaign have seen the winner on the day shut out the losing side.
