Real Sociedad and Sevilla will face off against each other at the Reale Seguros Stadium this midweek, as the home side look to bring a four-game winless run in the La Liga H2Hs to a halt (D1, L3).
It’s been a tough ride for Real Sociedad since the resumption of football (W2, D2, L5), with Imanol Alguacil’s side netting under 1.5 goals in six of nine La Liga fixtures post restart. Despite bagging one goal or less in four of their last six league home matches (W2, D1, L3), the fact they’ve scored over 1.5 goals in six of their previous nine top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W5, D2, L2) must lead La Real to believe they can add a couple of goals to their tally here. Particularly aggressive after the break, the Basque-based outfit have managed 66.67% (22) of the 33 La Liga home goals scored this season in the second half of play.
Meanwhile, the visitors have gone from four La Liga draws in a row to four consecutive triumphs, three of which saw Sevilla keep a blank sheet. In fact, only three sides have shipped fewer away goals in the league than Los Rojiblancos (20) this season, with Sevilla conceding an average of 1.11 goals per La Liga trip. Against this backdrop, Los Nervionenses have failed to prevent their match hosts on the day from scoring in six of eight league trips this calendar year, allowing two goals or more on four of those occasions. On the other hand, Julen Lopetegui’s men have shown ruthlessness in front of goal lately, netting over 1.5 goals in five of their last six La Liga away clashes.
