RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich will face-off at the Red Bull Arena in a massive Bundesliga (BL) showdown that will see the hosts chasing their second league win over the defending champions (W1, D1, L4).
The hosts have returned a maximum of nine points from the opening three league fixtures, which puts them on the top of the BL table as the only team with a 100% start. All three of their BL wins this term have seen Leipzig score 2+ match goals and lead at the break, although just one has been accompanied by a clean sheet. Backed by a promising start to the season, the Red Bulls will try to post their first competitive triumph over Bayern after three straight failures (D1, L2). Leipzig’s main issue across those clashes has been a lack of goals, as they’ve struggled to hit the net in each of those three H2Hs. Still, Julian Nagelsmann’s men are unbeaten at home in their last eight BL outings (W4, D4), bagging over 1.5 match goals in each of their wins in that period.
On the other hand, the reigning holders have bounced back after a shock 2-2 home draw with Hertha in the BL curtain-raiser, winning both of their previous league games by a margin of multiple goals. The Bavarians have not only scored 2+ match goals in each league fixture so far, but they’ve also found the net in all six halves of BL football played this campaign. Additionally, they have not tasted defeat in their last seven BL trips (W4, D3), netting three or more goals in all four of their wins in that span. But, Niko Kovac’s players have walked away from the Red Bull Arena with three points only once in three BL visits here (W1, D1, L1), scoring a total of one goal in their previous two H2Hs at this venue.
