The Ligue 1 (L1) toppers Paris Saint-Germain welcome the relegation fighters Amiens to the Parc des Princes looking to extend their unbeaten run in competitive H2Hs to seven straight games (W5, D1).
The hosts have racked up a nine-game unbeaten run across all competitions in the build-up to this fixture (W8, D1), winning all five of their last competitive matches by scoring at least two goals in each. Massive pre-match favorites, the reigning holders have picked up ten triumphs in 11 competitive home games this season (W10, L1), with all of those successes seeing them shut out their opponents. Another clean sheet is on the cards here given that the Parisians have won both of their previous top-flight H2Hs with Amiens, scoring 2+ match goals apiece while conceding none. Also, Thomas Tuchel’s men are expected to clinch another landslide victory as all five of their previous competitive triumphs saw them prevail by a margin of multiple goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors go into this round frantically looking over their shoulders as they hover only one point clear of the relegation territory, having suffered four consecutive L1 defeats before playing out a 1-1 home draw with Dijon last time out. Amiens’ dip in form has seen them go from three straight L1 away stalemates to three successive losses. All of those failures have seen them concede three or more goals in total and allow over 1.5 second-half goals. Curiously, seven of Amiens’ nine L1 road trips have witnessed both teams score, with Les Licornes breaking the deadlock on just three of those occasions. The one consolation for the traveling side is that they’ve won two of their three previous clashes against the top-four sides this season (W2, L1).
