Before suffering elimination, the CONMEBOL side achieved four victories, finishing top of Group A without conceding a single goal, after which they defeated Portugal in the round of 16 by two goals to one.
Carlos Salcedo, Rodolfo Pizarro, Andres Guardado, Javier Hernandez, and Hector Herrera are all ruled out from the Mexican squad for the United States tour. As for Uruguay, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez will spearhead the attack, but without his favored partner Edinson Cavani, who will remain on the sidelines after only recently returning to full fitness.
