Juventus travel to the Stadio Olimpico to take on in-form Lazio, looking to extend their winning run in H2Hs to four straight games.
The hosts have gathered momentum in the build-up to this match, securing four consecutive triumphs in all competitions. While two of those wins saw them keep a clean sheet, three have witnessed Simone Inzaghi’s men score at least two goals. Along with Juventus, the Biancocelesti are the only team in Serie A (SA) that is yet to suffer a home defeat this term (W5, D2), with 63% of their total SA goals scored coming at this venue. But, Lazio’s home record this season stays in sharp contrast to their SA H2H record against Juventus here, as they’ve failed to beat the reigning holders in top-flight home H2H since 2003. In fact, they’ve lost six of their last seven such fixtures (D1, L6), drawing a blank on five of those occasions.
On the other hand, a shock 2-2 home draw with Sassuolo last weekend saw Juventus slip to second in the table, even though they’ve maintained their unbeaten start to the 2019/20 season (W11, D3). Also, although they’ve won five of seven SA road matches so far (W5, D2), they haven’t been as nearly convincing as expected. Four of those wins have come via a single-goal margin, with the Bianconeri bagging an average of just 1.42 goals scored per SA away fixture. But, with only four goals conceded away from home, Maurizio Sarri’s boast the best defensive record in Italy’s top-tier, having kept three away blank sheets so far. Interestingly, six of Juve’s seven away matches in the league have seen them head into halftime on level terms.
