Eintracht Frankfurt have got off to a flying Bundesliga start, but a Koln side they’ve failed to beat in eight of their previous nine top-flight H2Hs held at the RheinEnergieStadion now stands in their way (D4, L4).
Slow-starting Koln conceded the opening goal in all of their three Bundesliga outings this season and went on to lose each. Two of those defeats saw the hosts allow over 1.5 first-half goals and precisely three in total. Additionally, ‘Die Geißböcke’ enter this round winless in seven home Bundesliga matches, last season included (D3, L4). Notably, though, all games across that same run of fixtures saw both teams on the scoresheet, with five producing over 3.5 total goals. Against this backdrop, all of their previous three top-flight H2Hs held at this venue have featured two goals or less at full-time, with Koln netting under 1.5 goals each time (W1, D1, L1).
Meanwhile, the visitors are enjoying an unbeaten start to the season (W2, D1), despite each of their opening three league matches witnessing both sides hit the net. In turn, five of Frankfurt’s six Bundesliga trips post lockdown have seen both teams on the scoresheet, with just one producing a draw (W4, D1, L1). Slow starting on the road is an issue, though, considering ‘Die Adler’ conceded the opening goal in the majority (70.59%) of their away league games back last season (12/17), which they avoided in their first Bundesliga trip this campaign (3-1 win over Hertha). Yet, scoring against Koln on the road has been a daunting prospect for Frankfurt, as they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in eight of their previous nine league trips to the RheinEnergieStadion.
