The two sides that have had identical returns from their last five K League 1 games (W1, D2, L2) meet at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium as Gwangju take on Gangwon.
After suffering four consecutive league losses, the hosts have gone on to avoid defeat in three of their last four K League 1 outings (W1, D2). However, a lack of firepower in the attacking third saw Gwangju draw a blank four times during that eight-game sequence, netting precisely one goal per game in two of the other four. At home in K League 1, the ‘Griffins’ have lost three matches in a row, two of which yielded a two-goal margin at FT. It will be a daunting prospect for Gwangju to improve a dismal home form here as they take on a side they’ve failed to win against in six of their previous seven competitive home H2Hs (D5, L1), including the last three.
As for the visitors, they are not enjoying the best of times either, having failed to pick up a win in four consecutive league fixtures ahead of this contest (D2, L2). Notably, they drew a blank in all but one of those four games, with three featuring under 2.5 goals at FT. Things go from bad to worse for the ‘Kodiaks,’ given they’ve struggled to get on the scoresheet in each of their last four competitive trips (D1, L3). In fact, Gangwon’s attacking woes have seen them net the division’s second-lowest average of 0.62 goals per K League 1 away match. One of the weakest first-half performers in the league, Kim Byung-soo’s men were either drawing or losing at halftime in all eight of their top-flight trips this term (HT: D5, L3).
