After performing a miraculous comeback against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Juventus meet Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris looking to post their fifth consecutive Serie A road victory.
A shock 1-1 draw in Turin back in October makes Genoa one of two Italian teams that have managed to walk away from the Allianz Stadium unbeaten. The hosts have entered this round carrying a three-game winless run on their backs (D2, L1), but they are still safe of the relegation zone, sitting nine points clear of 18th-placed Bologna. Although 71.43% of Genoa’s league wins arrived at home, the Grifone have pulled off just one triumph in their last five SA home outings (W1, D3, L1). The main reason for the Rossoblu’s recent struggling is the uninspired attack that has failed to hit the net in three successive SA fixtures.
Five wins in as many league matches sum up an overwhelming league campaign for the Serie A leaders Juventus. Three of those SA triumphs saw the visitors score 3+ match goals, with the Bianconeri conceding just two goals in that period. The reigning Serie A holders boast an almost perfect road record (W12, D1), remaining the only team in the Italian top flight that is yet to suffer a loss this campaign. Also, Juventus’ tally of eight goals conceded in 13 SA road clashes is by far the league’s best, with Massimiliano Allegri’s men keeping seven clean sheets away from home this term. Although Atalanta (32) are the only team to score more goals on the road than Juventus (28) so far, the Turin giants are the only ones to bag 2+ match goals away from home more than ten times (11).
