Out-of-sorts Fiorentina welcome rock-bottom Brescia to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, looking to bring their unbeaten run in their Serie A (SA) H2Hs to six games (W2, D3).
The hosts had won only once in six league matches (D3, L2) before the coronavirus pandemic halted proceedings in Italy, netting under 1.5 goals on five of those occasions. Furthermore, utterly underwhelming performances have seen Fiorentina pick up just a single triumph from their last nine SA home fixtures (D4, L4) and score one goal or less in each. Also, Giuseppe Iachini’s men have shipped the opening goal (if any) in six of 13 SA home games this term, returning three points from such matches (D3, L3). But, the Viola can take some confidence from the fact that they’ve avoided defeat in seven consecutive top-flight H2Hs held at this venue (W5, D2).
Meanwhile, dead-last Brescia enter this round nine points adrift of the safe zone and on a run of 11 league matches without a win (D3, L8). Indeed, the visitors are still seeking their first SA triumph since the turn of the year, but the fact that they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in each of their last six league fixtures can give them a little comfort. Away from home in SA, Le Rondinelle are one of two sides yet to reach double digits (9) and are the only team yet to score over 1.5 goals per SA away match. If they manage to find the net here, Diego Lopez’s players are likely to do it in the second half, given that 66.67% (six) of their nine SA away goals bagged so far came after the halftime break.
