A week after the completion of the 2018-19 Bundesliga campaign, Eintracht Frankfurt will come face-to-face with Wolfsburg in a friendly fixture that will take place at the Century Lotus Stadium in Foshan, China this weekend.
Eintracht’s dreadful form in the final stage of the Bundesliga season has seen them slip to seventh place, with Die Adler failing to pick up three points in all six of their previous league outings (D2, L4). What’s more, Adi Hütter’s men have scored one goal or less across all of those games, while conceding over 1.5 match goals in each of their four losses in that span. Things go from bad to worse for Frankfurt ahead of this clash, considering they’ve lost four of their previous six H2Hs with Wolfsburg (W1, D1, L4), with three of those losses saw them fail to find back of the net. Interestingly, five of Launische Diva’s last seven competitive games have featured under 2.5 goals, with the remaining two producing six or more goals.
Meanwhile, even though they’ve endured mixed fortunes in the Bundesliga this term, the Wolves have still managed to qualify for the Europa League, mainly thanks to a good run of form in the final month of the competition. Having won three of their previous five competitive games (W3, D1, L1), Bruno Labbadia’s players have been in free-scoring form, netting 15 goals across those matches, including eight against Augsburg on the final matchday of the season. But, Wolfsburg’s defensive frailties that have seen them concede at least one goal in ten of their last 11 outings could be a setback here, especially given that they’ve struggled for a clean sheet in all three of their previous H2Hs with Frankfurt.
