Encouraged by a 3-1 home win over RB Leipzig in their midweek’s DFB Pokal encounter, Eintracht Frankfurt will be looking to maintain winning momentum when they take on Augsburg at the Commerzbank-Arena this weekend.
Resurgent Frankfurt have put together three consecutive Bundesliga (BL) games without a loss (W2, D1) after losing six of seven league outings prior (D1). The extension of that run would probably require the hosts to open the scoring here, as four of their five BL home triumphs saw them break the deadlock. But, three defeats in their last five top-flight H2Hs held here (W1, D1) indicate Adi Hutter’s side may have problems continuing their run of form. Yet, far more comfortable at home, ‘Die Adler’ have netted 21 of 32 league goals at this venue (65.63%), with 62% (13) of them coming in the second half.
The visitors have brought a three-goal losing BL run to a halt with a 2-1 home success against Werder Bremen last time out to leapfrog Frankfurt in the table. None of Augsburg’s previous seven league matches has ended in a draw (W4, L3), with five producing over 2.5 goals and seeing both teams score. Still, only 34.62% (nine) of their 26 BL points have come away from home, with the ‘Fuggerstädter’ winning just once in their last four league road trips (D1, L2), even though they’ve scored the opening goal on each of those occasions. Also, only four sides have shipped more BL away goals than Augsburg (22) so far this season, with 13 of them coming in the second 45 minutes (59%).
