Rennes will be looking to maintain an unbeaten start to their 2020/21 Ligue 1 campaign when they lock horns with rock-bottom Dijon at the Stade Gaston Gérard.
Nailed to the bottom of the table, the hosts have returned just a single point from their opening six Ligue 1 fixtures (D1, L5), as they enter this round as the division’s worst offensive team. Indeed, ‘Les Hiboux’ have only managed a miserable average of 0.5 goals scored per league game so far, drawing a blank in four of those six opening matches. At the other end of the pitch across the previous five top-flight outings, they conceded over 1.5 goals four times despite keeping a first-half clean sheet in two of the last three. The one consolation for Stéphane Jobard is that his men have won all of their previous four Ligue 1 H2Hs as hosts, scoring 2+ goals in each of those clashes.
As for the visitors, they have been a force to be reckoned with this term, winning four of their opening six league matches (D2), with three of those successes coming despite a -1 handicap. Notably, ‘Les Rennais’ have opened the scoring before the 35-minute mark in both of their previous Ligue 1 trips, netting over 2.5 total goals in each. But, ‘Les Rouge et Noir’ have conceded the opener in three of their six league games so far, two of which eventually ended level (W1). In fact, two of their three away Ligue 1 goals conceded thus far arrived in the first half of play, whilst 62.5% of their goals scored on the road came after half-time (5/8).
