Juventus travel to the Stadio Ezio Scida to take on the rock-bottom Serie A side Crotone, looking to maintain an unbeaten start to the season.
The newly-promoted hosts have endured a tormenting start to their top-flight campaign, losing each of their opening three Serie A fixtures via at least a two-goal margin. In fact, the ‘Pythagoreans’ have so far conceded a league-high ten goals, allowing precisely four per match twice already. At the other end of the pitch across that same run of games, Crotone managed to find the net twice, with both goals arriving before the 50-minute mark. Scoring against Juventus will be a somewhat Herculean task, as Giovanni Stroppa’s men have only got on the scoresheet once in their four top-flight H2Hs overall (D1, L3). Indeed, each of those three defeats yielded a multiple-goal margin despite two seeing the adversaries head into half-time on level terms.
As for the visitors, they brushed aside Sampdoria 3-0 at home in their Serie A curtain-raiser but could only manage a 2-2 away draw with Roma in the following game. Yet, the reigning champions have found the net in all four halves of the top-flight action played so far, with three of their five goals scored arriving beyond the hour mark. But, Andrea Pirlo’s men enter this round winless in five Serie A trips in a row (D2, L3), all of which saw them concede over 1.5 goals. On the flip side, the Turin-based giants have scored 2+ goals in five of their seven away league matches post lockdown. Still, Juventus must be confident of returning to winning ways here, as they’ve won two of their three historical trips to Crotone (D1).
