Colombia and Peru will meet face-to-face at the Hard Rock Stadium in an international friendly match. It will be the first time that these two nations go head-to-head since Colombia swept Peru aside with a 3-0 win in the final warm-up game ahead of the 2019 Copa America. In fact, the Peruvians have struggled to come out on top in 16 of their previous H2H meetings with Colombia (90 minutes only), drawing a blank in seven of their last nine H2Hs.
The Colombians have been particularly ponderous in attack since exiting the Copa America, failing to find the net in three consecutive friendlies following a 2-2 draw with Brazil (D2, L1). A rock-solid defense has been Colombia’s main strength in 2019, as they’ve kept a clean sheet in nine of 12 games since the turn of the year. When they score, Los Cafeteros tend to do it inside one of the halves, as the last time they managed to score in both halves was against Costa Rica in October 2018.
As for Peru, all four of their post-Copa America friendlies have featured under 2.5 goals and witnessed them score and concede one or less (W1, D1, L1). Two of their five goals scored/conceded in that period have come beyond the 80th minute, with La Blanquirroja drawing a blank in the first half in three of those matches. Peru’s immense problems in the final third have seen them score one goal or less in 12 of 14 games since the turn of the year, with nine of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals.
