Brazil will be looking to extend an unbeaten run in their FIFA World Cup qualifying H2Hs with Bolivia to three (W1, D1) when the two nations meet at the Neo Química Arena.
A 3-0 thrashing of South Korea in November 2019 put an end to Brazil’s dismal five-game winless run (D3, L2) and stayed well within their tendency to win in style. Indeed, eight of their last victories have yielded a full-time margin of at least two goals, with six being accompanied by a clean sheet too. Despite their recent poor run of form, Tite’s men remain unbeaten in 17 World Cup qualifying matches in a row (W12, D5). Remarkably, the ‘Seleção’ have yet to taste defeat in World Cup home qualifier since the turn of the 21st century, registering an intimidating 75% win-rate in such fixtures. Additionally, a clear majority (76.92%) of those victories arrived despite a -1 handicap, which has been the case in eight of their previous H2H triumphs.
On the other hand, Bolivia’s last outing dates back to October 2019 when they outscored Haiti 3-1 to bring a disastrous eight-match losing streak to a halt. Despite being troubled by slow starts recently, having conceded inside the opening 45 minutes of play in six of their last ten fixtures, the visitors have managed a first-half clean sheet in six of their previous seven World Cup qualifiers. Winning a World Cup qualifying match on the road has, however, been a virtually impossible task this century, as they are yet to make such an accomplishment. What’s more, ‘La Verde’ have not only lost five of their last such encounters, but they’ve conceded an average of 3.4 goals per game.
