Yokohama vs Cerezo Osaka 30/08/20

30 August 2020

Yokohama FC and Cerezo Osaka go head-to-head at the Mitsuzawa Stadium for their first-ever J1 League H2H meeting.

The hosts have enjoyed a notable upturn in form going into this clash, as they’ve gone from five successive J1 League defeats to three consecutive triumphs. Curiously, seven of those eight results (wins/losses) have seen the winner on the day open the scoring and move on to rack up over 1.5 goals at FT. The ‘clean-sheet’ theme remains quite significant, though, as three of Yokohama’s last four J1 League results on home turf witnessed the winning side shut out the loser (W2, L2). Additionally, conceding the opener would practically mean an end to Yokohama’s hopes of avoiding defeat here – ‘Fulie’ have lost all four of their top-flight home encounters in which they shipped the first goal.

The visitors, on the other hand, have been a pretty exciting team to watch lately, with all three of their previous league fixtures featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. Away from home in the J1 League, five of Cerezo’s six games have seen both sides hit the net, with four producing three goals or more. Also, having lost only once in six top-flight trips this term (W4, D1), Miguel Angel Lotina’s men will be looking to improve that record after avoiding failure in all six of their previous competitive trips to Yokohama (W1, D5). But, they’ll have to pay attention to the fact that 77.78% of their J1 League away goals conceded this season arrived in the second half of play (7/9).
