Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich will be looking to wrap up another jaw-dropping Bundesliga campaign on a high when they take on bottom-half Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg’s chances of securing a tenth-place finish are still alive, though it would require them to overtake three sides to achieve that feat. Coming into the final weekend of the season, ‘Die Wolfe’ have gone unbeaten in three consecutive Bundesliga matches (W2, D1), including a narrow 1-0 win at Cologne last time out. Another triumph over non-other than Bayern would see Wolfsburg win back-to-back Bundesliga fixtures for the first time since February. However, they’ve won just four of their 49 Bundesliga meetings with Bayern and are winless in their last 13 against them (D1, L12) since a 4-1 thumping in January 2015. Manager Florian Kohfeldt doesn’t neet a second invitation to buck that trend and lead Wolfsburg to their third successive home league victory for the first time this season.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich have sealed a record-extending 10th successive Bundesliga title with a couple of games to spare but have since gone winless in back-to-back league matches (D1, L1), both of which featured 4+ goals and both teams scoring. Another high-scoring contest could be the order of the day, as the ‘Bavarians’ have netted in their last 27 Bundesliga meetings with Wolfsburg. Additionally, they could complete the 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign as the only side in the division to score in all 17 away league matches. Indeed, scoring should not be a problem for Bayern, given that they’ve found the net in their last 80 Bundesliga outings! Julian Nagelsmann’s men have enjoyed a free-scoring season, bagging a staggering 95 goals thus far.
