Uruguay vs Peru 12/10/19
12 October 2019
Uruguay will have revenge on their minds when they take on Peru in an international friendly match at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
The hosts will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run in the post-Copa America period to three games (W1, D1). Both of Uruguay’s previous friendlies have seen both teams score one goal precisely in the second half, with three of five goals scored in those matches coming five minutes before or after the halftime break. Overall, it’s been a decent year for La Celeste, who are yet to lose a match inside 90 minutes this calendar year (W6, D3). Also, six of those games have seen Uruguay keep a clean sheet, while only one of the remaining three witnessed more than one goal in their net. What’s more, a free-scoring Uruguay has netted at least one goal in all but one of those matches, bagging 2+ goals per fixture on six occasions.
Meanwhile, after losing 3-1 to Brazil in the 2019 Copa America final, the Peruvians have lost 1-0 to Ecuador before settling the score with Brazil with a narrow 1-0 win in an international friendly. Los Incas have won just one of their last seven H2H meetings with Uruguay inside 90 minutes (W1, D2, L4), but they dumped La Celeste out of Copa America after a penalty shootout back in June. Unlike Uruguay, it’s been a mixed year for La Blanquirroja (W5, D2, L5). Four of their triumphs since the turn of the year have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with three of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline. On the other hand, four of their defeats in that period have seen them draw a blank, with four seeing them concede 2+ match goals too.
