Olympique Lyonnais vs Bordeaux 31/08/19
31 August 2019
Olympique Lyonnais will try to strike their first Ligue 1 (L1) home win over Bordeaux since 2016 when the two sides face off at the Groupama Stadium this weekend.
The hosts have started the new season off on the right foot, securing back-to-back wins over AS Monaco and Angers. Both of those triumphs have seen Lyon beat their rivals to nil and score 3+ match goals. However, Les Gones go into this fixture off the back of a narrow 1-0 away loss to Montpellier, which was the first time since February that they’ve failed to find the net in the L1 game. Free-scoring Lyon side has scored at least one goal in all ten of their L1 home outings since the turn of the year, netting over 1.5 match goals eight times in the process. However, the 2007/08 L1 champions have won just one of their last seven home H2H meetings with Bordeaux (W1, D4, L2), with three of those stalemates ending with the identical 1-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the visitors will look to build on a 2-0 away win over Dijon last time out, which was their first L1 triumph this term following two successive failures (D1, L1). But, it has so far been a tough year for Bordeaux when away from home, as they’ve pulled off just three wins in 14 L1 trips since the turn of the year (W3, D2, L9). Seven of those defeats have seen Les Girondins fail to find the net, with six of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline against their favor. Additionally, only 28.57% of those matches have produced over 2.5 goals and witnessed goals in both halves.
