Honduras vs Chile 11/09/19
11 September 2019
Honduras will welcome Chile to the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula for an international friendly challenge.
It’s been a tough start to 2019 for the hosts, who struggled to pick up a win in five consecutive games at the beginning of the year (D2, L3). But, they seem to have managed to bounce back, as they go into this meeting off the back of back-to-back victories, both of which have ended by the same 4-0 scoreline. Los Catrachos have, however, endured mixed fortunes in their last five home games (W2, D2, L1), just as they did in their previous four home H2Hs with Chile (W2, L2). Also, goals have been in short supply for Honduras when at home lately, as four of their last five home fixtures featured under 1.5 total goals.
Chile will try to put an end to their frustrating five-game winless run (D2, L3) when they take on a nation that they’ve beaten in their last two H2Hs. La Roja have not only failed to pull off a win in the last five outings, but they’ve also struggled to hit the back of the net in four. However, if they do manage to win here, it will probably see at least two goals in Honduras’ net, as all three of Chile’s triumphs in 2019 saw them score two or more goals. Uncomfortable when away from home, the visitors have secured just three wins in their last 12 trips for the past two years (W3, D4, L5). Four of those failures have seen Chile struggle to get to the scoresheet while all three of their wins in that period being settled by a narrow one-goal margin.
