Eintracht Frankfurt vs Hertha Berlin

Top-four hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt and relegation-battling Hertha Berlin are set to face each other in a lopsided Bundesliga contest at the Deutsche Bank Park.

Eintracht Frankfurt fought back to hold perennial champions Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw last weekend, stretching their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to six straight games (W3, D3). Inspired by their longest undefeated streak in the top flight since autumn 2021, ‘Die Adler’ come into this meeting as pre-match favorites, keen to avenge a 2-1 defeat in this corresponding fixture in 2021/22. That incidentally remains Frankfurt’s only loss in their last eight league duels against Hertha (W4, D3), so there’s plenty of reason for optimism in Oliver Glasner’s corner. On top of a decent H2H record, his men have already won more home matches in the Bundesliga (5) this term than they did in the entire 2021/22 season (4).

In the meantime, Hertha Berlin’s hopes of avoiding another season-long fight against the drop are already far-fetched. They begin this round entrenched in a relegation scrap, two points adrift of safety following a dreadful three-game losing league start to the new calendar year. What’s even more worrying for under-fire boss Sandro Schwarz is that his men have gone down via multi-goal margins on all three occasions. Faced with their worst 18-game start to a new calendar year in the Bundesliga in 13 years, the visitors enter this matchday on a woeful run of four consecutive league defeats on the road, two of which saw them concede at least two goals.
